Willowkit and Spottedkit peered down at the berries. "So, these are Juniper?" Spottedkit meowed.
"Yeah!" Willowkit replied. She picked one of the berries delicately in her teeth, then set it down beside her. "We have to pick these for Greymist."
"Okay!" Spottedkit grabbed one roughly and it burst in her mouth. "Oops!"
"It's okay, I'll have one, too!" Willowkit giggled and popped one in her mouth. A few seconds later, she groaned. "I don't feel good." She meowed to Spottedkit, but when she looked over at her, the she-cat was writhing in pain. And then the pain hit her.
Icewing pressed against Pounceheart and purred. "Want to go for a walk?" She suggested.
"Sure." Pounceheart agreed. The two padded out of the camp. Then Pounceheart heard something. He pricked his ears.
"What is it?" Icewing asked, her fur fluffed up and her voice hushed. "Invaders?"
"I don't know." Pounceheart whispered back. "Follow me." He stalked through the bushes toward a soft rustling noise. He jumped out into a clearing to see two kits writhing in pain on the ground.
Icewing padded in after the tom, and gasped. "Deathberries!" She exclaimed when she saw the dark berries scattered on the ground. Instantly she swooped in to Spottedkit. She opened the she-kit's mouth and pulled out a piece of the berry. Then she turned to Willowkit. Doing the same thing, she said to Pounceheart, "Get some yarrow. Quick!"
She pulled out the berry from Willowkit's mouth as Pounceheart returned. She put one leaf into each of the kits' mouths and watched as they swallowed, then threw up. She grimaced, then shook herself. Focus. You have to keep helping them. You can't just sit there because of a little puke. She turned to Pounceheart. "We have to get them to Greymist." She meowed.
"Right." Pounceheart agreed, seeming relieved that he could help in some way. He picked up Willowkit, and Icewing delicately picked up Spottedkit.
Icewing padded through the woods alone. It was late in the day, and the sun as setting on another beautiful day. She padded up toward her favorite place to watch the sunset. She saw someone else up there. Swiftclaw. The two had used to come up here together before...well, it didn't matter. She padded up to him and sat down next to him.
The tom turned toward her, and Icewing saw for the first time his pain-striken face and red eyes. She breathed in quickly, and looked away.
Swiftclaw stared at her, and asked, "Why?"

He turned away quickly. 'She has a mate now, and she-she's happy. ' he thought 'As long as she's happy i can live with life.'
ReplyDeleteIcewing breathed in, then out. 'I have to tell him why. I have to.' She turned to him. "I love him, and that's why I mated with him. Besides, you completely ignored me during the whole time I was hurt. But Pounceheart helped me, so I grew to like him."
ReplyDelete"I tryed to help you...i couldn't you wouldn't wake up and i was in shock because i thought you died.I'm really sorry about ignoring you though i just didn't know what was going on. it was like my mind went to the stars and didn't come back." Swiftclaw felt shaky the entire time. He knew he messed up, badly.
ReplyDelete"You got that right." Icewing shook her head. "It's just, it's so stupid! I don't get why you couldn't have at least asked me if I was okay. But, oh well, to late for you know. I love him. More then I ever loved you." Icewing spat out the last few words, then bit her lip. 'Why did I just say that?'
ReplyDeleteSwiftclaw just nodded."I know" He said. He got up and started padding away."You can, you know..., have the spot, I'll go find somewhere else."He just started padding away again.
ReplyDeleteIcewing sighed, and turned away to look up at the darkening sky. 'Where did it all go wrong? One moment I love Swiftclaw, the next moment he ignores me, the next I'm a warrior and I have a mate that isn't Swiftclaw, and now this...'
ReplyDeleteSwiftclaw took a nest in the warriors den close to the front, one of the coldest placed. It would cool he down. Ha, he probably looked like he had a cold.
ReplyDeleteHollyfeather watched Swiftclaw go into the warriors' den. "So, what do we do?" She asked her sister.
ReplyDeleteVinesong shrugged. " I really don't know. I mean She like killed Swiftclaw's hyper little heart. But you know we can't really kill her heart or anything. We just have to let him get over it on his own time, that may take seasons but we can live with a depressed brother for a while."

ReplyDelete"No, no, no, no. Hollywing whatever is in you'r head I really don't wanna here it."She looked over at her depressed brother. She thought for a moment."Okay what is it?"
ReplyDelete"All we have to do is hurt Icewing. Physically, mentally, it doesn't matter. Though physically is the easiest. Just sneak up on her and attack. Tonight, when she's walking back to camp. Just roll around in something that will mask our scent, and she'll never know what hit her! And then she's ours."
ReplyDeleteVinesong gasped."Can't we just get Blazestone to do it, he's bigger than her and you know he can fight easily." She looked at her other brother he was so stupid compared to his sisters."You rally think it will work if we do it?"She asked feeling like they had too.
ReplyDelete"Well, I'd rather do it then have our brother ramble about trying to. But I bet we can do it." Hollyfeather meowed.
ReplyDeleteVineheart nodded."Okay, so mouse vile or Foxdung?" She asked.
ReplyDelete"I was thinking mushrooms." Hollyfeather giggled.
ReplyDeleteVinesong smiled."Right."She meowed.She grabbed some mushrooms from the back of the elders den and hoped out of camp. "Okay Hollyfeather, you first."
ReplyDelete"Got it." Hollyfeather rolled thoroughly. "Done!" She popped up, smelling of swamps.
ReplyDeleteVinesong jumped right in. She rolled in it for about the amount that Hollyfeather did. "Oh mud too so we don't look like ourselves."She said and jumped into a near by puddle of mud.
ReplyDeleteWhirlstorm looked around for Willowkit in a stage of panic, "Willowkit? Willowkit?! Where are you!?"
ReplyDeleteShe flicked her tail to Tinykit and duskkit, "stay here!" She dashed away from the nursery towards the medicine cat's den and saw her kit laying quietly in a patients nest beside Spottedkit.
ReplyDeletePineheart headed towards the warriors den. It's been a long day and she didn't make a single friend, maybe it wasn't the best idea to come here.
ReplyDeleteHer tail curled when she saw Swiftclaw looking upset.
She thought for a moment, ' Should I go talk to him? It might not be my business.'
But she decided againest it and walked over to see what the problem was. She needed a friend more then ever.
The black tom was only a little bigger then her in comparision, what she would think for an older cat of course. His eyes were watery and red from tears.
Pineheart sat down in the nest that was next to his. "Hey," she murmured.
He looked up and stared at her as if he'd never spoken to a cat before. "Hi," he mumbled.
"I don't know what happened, and I have a feeling it has to do with love," she said soothingly. "But you look like you don't have a friend in the world, and niether do I," she meowed. "Do you think you could tell me what's happening? I'm here for you," she said softly. Then said, "Well if that's okay with you," she said when she realized that sounded akward.

Pineheart smiled warm-heartedly. Inside she was screaming 'Finally!'

Swiftclaw, who was looking a little cheerfuller nodded his thanks.
"Well I was a jerk to her for a while so I deserved it." He meowed and smiled to Pineheart
ReplyDeleteIcewing finally came back to camp. She looked into the warriors' den to find Pounceheart. Instead she saw Swiftclaw and Pineheart. She blinked, then turned tail and exited. She saw her mate by the fresh-kill pile, and ran over to him. "Hi." She purred.

ReplyDeleteLeopardpelt looked up from where she sat in the medecine cat's den,where she'd been since Icewing and Pounceheart had brought the two she-kits back to camp,her tail tip twitched worriedly.She looked at Whirlstorm,"Icewing and Pounceheart found them just in time."she mewed.

"Sure!" Icewing smiled and pressed her ice white pelt to her mate's ginger one. "That would be wonderful."
